They finally did it!

Google updated my house! :)
This shows the new addition in the back and the dormers.
It also shows the bricked backyard.

There's a lot going on over these past few days...

Front porch was built

And the roof came down!
Unfortunately some boards had to be replaced.
They also had to tear out the new 2 yr old roof. Long story. :(

Dog house or bump out built to house the gas fireplace in living room.

Dog house/bump out built and now they're starting to install
a window on both sides of where fireplace will be.

More roofing going on!
I feel so sorry for these guys. The temperatures have been hovering right around 98° to 100° F (36.6° -37.7° C). They started out with 5 workers on Tues. & by Thurs. morning they were down to 2 workers. The heat & humidity is unbearable. Unfortunately they didn't feel a bit sorry for me when they presented me with the invoice. Ouch!!!

Dog house/bump out for gas fireplace housing.

I haven't taken a picture yet...but one of the windows is installed and the other one
should get installed on Friday. That will end all 32 window installations.
Did I mention that I like windows? :)

Monday, July 19

Sloooowly but surely...

All of the asbestos siding has been removed and properly disposed of.
The black material on the house now is tar paper, which will be removed.

The east & west sides of the house (in progress)...

The first window, on the side, will be replaced with a fireplace.
A window on each side of the fireplace will then be installed.

Progress Report!

I've waited to have my backyard paved for well over a year and it's
finally happened!
I figured it would be a humongous mess in this
process but the guys were very
professional and considerate.
Ya can't ask for much more than that.

I want to put a concrete sealer on it but I have to wait until dry
weather to do that.
I won't buy patio furniture out until it's
been sealed...
'cause it would just get in the way.

It was a very tight squeeze manipulating this Bobcat in my backyard
but the guy was a pro!
My neighbor, Charlie, marveled at how the
guy didn't get one wheel onto his property.
Phew! :D

Brad, my other neighbor, was kind enough to let us stack
the pavers on his driveway.

My garage, which still has to be painted and trimmed out.

These last 4 pictures are of the finished work. I still have to seal it...
but that has to wait for dry weather.

The two li'l patches of ground is the only gardening I'll be doing
(in the way of flowers).
I'm going to plant a weeping cherry tree,
and install a flag pole and two spot lights.
I haven't done anything
here except return the perennials to their beds.

Here's a sneak peak at the shingle siding being installed.
We're still tossing around ideas about what to
do about the foundation.

Well...there it is! :D
